Program Information MissionThe mission of the Bristow Run Elementary School Counseling Program is to promote students' personal, academic, social, and career success in a safe, respectful, and motivating school environment through a collaborative partnership of school staff, parents, and the community with the purpose of preparing all students for lifelong learning and productive citizenship.
PhilosophyThe professional school counselors at Bristow Run ES believe that every child can learn and that all students have an equal right to access a certified school counselor and to participate in a comprehensive school counseling program designed to ensure student success. The following principles are the foundation for the school counseling program at BRES: • All students’ ethnic, cultural, racial differences and special needs are considered in planning and implementing the school wide program. • There is a collaborative effort among the school counselors, administration, and teachers to coordinate with parents and the community. • Various assessments are used to develop and continually evaluate the effectiveness of the program. • Classroom lessons and activities are based on the Prince William County Guidance Curriculum (K-5) which incorporates the personal, academic, social, and career domains. • School counselors adhere to ethical standards and regularly participate in professional development activities.
